More fall cleaning: R.R.W. Krogan Decommissioned

R.R.W. Krogan |
First was a T'Liss Warbird from D'Nel's inventory, the R.R.W. Krogan (names after a species in the video game Mass Effect). I liked the ship, but since I had gotten it as a new character in the game (Lieutenant rank), it was a bit underpowered and it wouldn't stand a chance in STFs. The final configuration included the Breen Absolute Zero Set which has now been re-purposed. The specs of this class are as follows:
- Acquisition: Free (obtained during the Romulan Tutorial)
- Tier: 1
- Hull Strength: 10,000
- Shield Modifier: 0.9
- Crew: 150
- Weapons: 2 Fore, 1 Aft
- Device Slots: 2
- Bridge Officer Stations: 1 Ensign Tactical, 1 Ensign Engineering, 1 Ensign Science
- Console Modifications: 1 Tactical, 1 Engineering, 1 Science
- Base Turn Rate: 18 degrees per second
- Impulse Modifier: 0.2
- +5 Power to all Subsystems
- Can Equip cannons
- Singularity Warp Core
- Romulan Battle Cloaking Device

Norgh Class |
In addition to the clean up on the Romulan Side, I cleaned up my Klingon character (Del'Aurian) a bit and decommissioned the Norgh class Bird of Prey that I was given as a commander. I started my Klingon character when the minimum level was commander, having maxed out my Federation character. In all honesty I am glad I got this character, and level her up before the Legacy of Romulus expansion because I would not want to be leveling up two characters - too much grind to enjoy the game. The ship was the I.K.S. Sal'Em, but I didn't bother taking any photos of it. Klingon ships, for the most part, seem uninspiring, and I only really spent a week or so with this ship before leveling up and getting something more powerful. Final configuration of the I.K.S. Sal'Em included the Breen Absolute Zero Set which has now been repurposed. The stats for the Norgh Class are as follows (I like the design of the ship, just wish it had more umph):
- Rank: Commander
- Tier: 3
- Type: Raider
- Hull: 16,000
- Standard Shields: 2,980 (Mk IV)
- Shield Modifier: 0.8
- Weapons: 3 fore and 2 aft Can equip dual cannons.
- Crew: 75
- Bridge Officers: 4
- Device Slots: 2
- Consoles:

- Turn Rate: 22
- Impulse Modifier: 0.20
- Inertia rating: 70
- Bonus Power: +15 weapons power

Marvel Heroes
Saturday, Sep 14 2013, 13:46 MMORPG, online, video games, VideoGames, Windows PermalinkWell... I wasn't particularly looking for another MMO to start, but I have been getting recommendations for EVE online and Marvel Heroes. The Marvel Heroes trailer looks good, and it's free-to-play! If I have space in my hard drive I may end up testing it out :)

Java...from 1997
Friday, Sep 13 2013, 07:30 Computing, Retro, Video, youtube PermalinkBlast from the past! Java Tools from 1997.
I wasn't watching computer chronicles at that point, but I remember some of this because in 1998 I started computer science as an undergraduate and the language was Java ;-)

Shi'Khar decommissioned, Nukara Tier V reached

U.S.S. Sagittaron NCC-94534 |
Having listened to some of the STO podcasts, I am hoping that they do something about this grind situation. You need to rind for dilithium, grind for marks, grid for other things, it gets tiring after a little while. Beyond the character traits (passive it seems all of them), I didn't see much point to the Nukara reputation system. Let's see what pans outs when the next update hits later in September (hopefully I will be mostly done getting to Tier V with my KDF character by then, and have a substantial dent on reputation for the RRW character).
This weekend I also decided to do some house cleaning. Instead of buying more ship slots I decided to finally decommission the U.S.S. Sagittaron, a Shi'Khar class ship that I was awarded when I joined the federation side as a Lieutenant. I hadn't taken the ship out for a ride in ages, and it would probably not stand a chance in any STF borg missions, so it was time for it to go. I salvages the Aegis Technology Research set from it which took a while to get.
Shi'Khar class stats:
- Minimum Rank: Lieutenant
- Crew: 200
- Weapons: 2 Fore, 1 Aft
- Device Slots: 2
- Bridge Officer Stations: 1 Ensign Tactical, 1 Ensign Engineering, 1 Ensign Science
- Console Upgrades: 1 Tactical, 1 Engineering, 1 Science
- Turn Rate: 11.4
- Impulse Modifier: 0.20
