Kane & Lynch | done
Wow! I can't believe that I made it to the end of my non-backward compatible reviews on the 360! And, my 360 is now safely wrapped up, protected from dust and water. This mini review is for Kane Lynch: Dead Men on the xbox 360. This game was completed in March 2019 (so I hope I remember much of it)The plot from Wikipedia:The game opens with a voiceover of ex-mercenary Adam 'Kane'

Another one of my quick-runs through xbox 360 games to get a sense of the story and the game. This one is Capcom's Operation Racoon City, which is a game that falls into the Resident Evil franchise.I think this game did multiplayer co-op much better than Crackdown 2. I played the campaign part of this game back in January of this year. From what I can see you can only play this game online (maybe
Crackdown 2 | Done

Back in December of 2018, another game that I tried to play through on my 360 before I packed it away was Crackdown 2 (funny thing is that after I completed it it became backward compatible...) So here is a brief review of Crackdown 2 on the xbox 360:As you can see from my gamerscore, I didn't really go after all of the achievements. Part of the reason is that the achievements were (like in
Return of Castle Wolfenstein | Done!
Before playing the latest and greatest in Wolfenstein gaming, I ended up (last summer) playing through an original xbox era game (thanks, Backward Compatibility!) titled "Return to Castle Wolfenstein". This game was originally released back in 2001, and I had tried playing a demo of it on my Power Mac G3 at the time, but the thing was so choppy I, disappointed, put it down (and totally forgot

Looks like Defiance (the MMO) is getting an update. The updated version launches this summer and is called Defiance 2050. The television show took place starting in 2046, so I guess the developers might be moving the timeline a little forward (well, the show was 3 seasons long, so many it picks up the story after the show?). On the good side of things it seems like they are streamlining the
Cognitive dissonance in games
Found earlier this week. It an interesting commentary on a common trope of video game stories - accused of a violent crime, didn't do it, be violent to clear you name.
Far Cry 2 | Done!
Sunday, Jan 14 2018 12:05 | Action, Entertainment, farcry, shootEmUp, ubisoft, video games, VideoGames, XBOX
Last semester I began to play Far Cry 2 on my xbox 360 on my free time (free time, LOL - I suppose that's why it took this long to complete the game :p) I got the game as part of a far cry pack a few winters ago, and with the pile of 360 games becoming smaller and smaller, this series was next on my list. Far Cry (the original) wasn't available at the time, and it seems that the stories

I love Terry Crews ;-) Now all this game needs is a Jake Peralta recruit haha.I wonder if I need an Xbox One X to run this. I seriously don't see a reason to buy an xbox one X over an xbox one S given my own gaming habits.

Recently I completed the game Syndicate on the xbox 360 (continuing to make my way though my backlog of games) :-). The game is based on the game which has the similar name from a little over 20 years ago, by developed BullFrog. The original syndicate game was a DOS and MacOS game (I am pretty sure it was on the Amiga as well) where the player started their own corporation with the aim
Battlefield 4 | Done!

The other day I wrapped up the campaign part of Battlefield 4 (which is really the only part of most games I play). I was originally thinking that it would pick up from Battlefield 3, but this game seems to be (more or less) self contained. With the exception of meeting "dima" in one of the stages in the middle part of the game. Dima being one of the characters involved in the previous
Max Payne 3 | Done!
A week or so ago I completed Max Payne 3, the most recent game in the Max Payne series of games. This game trades in the comic book feel of the first two games for a more new (or trendy?" cinematic feel with game cutscenes and voice over by none other than Max himself. The game starts off with Max (at the end of the game) doing some introspection, a "how the hell did I get here?" type of
Max Payne 2 | Done!
Continuing on the theme of going through video games that I've wanted to play (but haven't), the next game that I completed was Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. This game was originally released on the original xbox (you know, the one before the xbox 360), and it is backward compatible on the 360, so I decided to take it for a spin. [SPOILERS]The story of Max Payne 2 picks up a little
Max Payne (PC) | Done!

A while back I had bought Max Payne 3 on super sale for my xbox 360, so I thought it a good idea to go back and play the previous two. Even though I have the original xbox discs for Max Payne, and Max Payne 2, it seems that the backward compatibility was throwing up some hiccups for the original Max Payne. Luckily Humble Bundle had it on super sale ($2?) so I got it for steam.Max is a
Black Ops | Done!
I guess I needed a little entertainment this semester so I couldn't give up all gaming ;-) A while back I got a good deal on Call of Duty Black Ops and Black Ops II so I ended up starting to play Black Ops a few weeks ago during the winter break, before the semester started.Having finished 4 other Call of Duty games, the mechanics of this game felt pretty familiar. The game is pretty
Half-Life 2 | Done!
Back when Half-Life, the original, came out (November 1998) I was a freshman in college. I wasn't really paying attention to those types of games for three reason: lots of work, lots of school, and no windows PC. I was a Mac person, even back then, and we did not often get windows games to come out around the same time on our platform. I wonder if things have changed these days -
Battlefield 2: Bad Company | Done!

Well, in addition to having lots of extra time to do homework for my EDDE 802 Advanced Research Methods course I've also had a little more time for gaming, given that Massachusetts has been pounded by snow, snow, and more snow over the past 3 weeks. Back in the Fall, when I had xbox live for free for a few months I got Battlefield 2: Bad Company for free. I had been resistant to even getting
Hitman: Blood Money | Done
Wednesday, Dec 31 2014 19:00 | achievements, Entertainment, FPS, Games, shootEmUp, stealth, video games, VideoGames, XBOX
Just before 2014 is done I managed to make my way through Hitman: Blood Money, the last game in the Hitman HD Trilogy that I bought at the end of 2013. I think part of the reason that I really got through this game quickly was because I played it on Normal (7 saves, regular AI), but still I was mostly playing for the storyline and not the achievements which makes this sort of a speedrun for me.
Hitman Contracts | Done
Well, that didn't take long! I guess it was a combination of having the holidays, and playing this game on normal mode that made it seem like a breeze. Hitman: Contracts is the second game in the Hitman Trilogy HD collection, and the third in the series as a whole. It still follows Agent 47 around his contracted killings work. I think this game was a bit of an improvement over Hitman 2

Right before classes started a few weeks ago I decided to start playing Halo 4. Given the amount of games I ended up getting on Black Friday last year it was a bit tough to decide what to play next, but I thought that since the next Halo isn't coming for a while (and probably will only be on xbox one), this seemed like a good game to play for the story. This was the first Halo game I've played on the
Modern Warfare 3 | Done!
Just in time, before the semester starts, I was able to complete the third part of the Modern Warfare trilogy! So, from previous games in the series, we know that the world has gone to hell in a hand basket. Task force 141, the original good guys, have been disavowed, but they are working hard to take care of the villain in this story who made things the way they are. Throughout the game we jump
Gears of War 3 | Done!
A couple of days ago I went through and I completed Gears of War 3. After completing the Gears of War triple pack, which I got last Christmas, I decided to just buy the limited edition of Gears of War 3. I was playing Stranglehold at the time Gears arrive in the mail, but I put it down like a hot potato in order to start this third one. In all honesty, I am not sure how many achievements I got, probably
Gears of War 2 | Done
Well, that didn't take long ;-) 20 days after I started Gears of War 2, it's now complete! I got Gears of War 2 as part of the Gears of War Triple Pack last Christmas (I've been working my way through other games first), and upon completing the original, this one was next in my xbox play queue. The game picks up at the end of the first Gears of War, where Delta squad comes back to deal some more punishment
Gears of War | Done
Another game completed this past week was Gears of War. I had bought the Gears of War triple pack back in December, and I had started the game, completing Act 1 back then, but I put it aside, and didn't return up to now. I am not sure if it's because I played the game on Casual and not Hardcore, but the game seemed rather short! In totality it seemed like the game had 5 Acts, which I was
One of the used games that I got last Christmas, and which I finally completed, was Crackdown. It wasn't on top of my list, but since I have a friend who wants to revisit it, I thought I'd better finish it so I can loan it out :-) The main idea of the game is that there are three crime syndicates in Pacific City, and you as the real bad-ass law enforcement office (from "the agency") are tasked
