Review: Invasion of the MOOCs: The Promise and Perils of Massive Open Online Courses

Invasion of the MOOCs: The Promise and Perils of Massive Open Online Courses Invasion of the MOOCs: The Promise and Perils of Massive Open Online Courses by Steven D. Krause
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was an interesting collection of essays by people (who I think) met through an xMOOC (EDCMOOC) and decided to put their experiences together. It was interesting to take a slice of MOOC history and read some initial reactions to this phenomenon. Although, calling EDCMOOC an xMOOC might be a slap in the face (as one of the chapter authors noted: xMOOC is used pejoratively in many cases, at least by certain types of people). Having been MOOCing since 2011 not a ton surprised me about this book, but it was an interesting book to read (or listen to anyway through TTS), and it added some nuance to my own understanding considering that I really didn't know many of the peripheral players then that I know (or sort of know) now.
