v6.2.3 - moving along, a point increase at a time

Enterforaprize anatomy

This was was one of the more "m'eh' comic strips of Sev Trek.  I also don't get why the enterprises are plates of food. I guess I'll go with it for now :p (original archive here)

Halo Infinite - what am I missing?

Another E3 2018 announcement - Microsoft's Halo Infinite. I've liked all Halo games I've played up to now, even though I have not completed all of them, and I have yet to play Halo 5: Guardians, so I was pumped about Halo: Infinite.  I didn't know it was coming, I was surprised and elated at the existence of an announcement trailer...and then it tell flat.  The trailer tells me nothing of

Assassin's creed Odyssey trailer

Just by luck yesterday YouTube suggested the Ubisoft livestream from E3 (oh internet overlords, you know me so well!), and I tuned in just as the trailer for Assassin's Creed Odyssey came on screen.  I love the trailer, I love that I am able to pick a character, I love that it's going to be set in Greece during the  peloponnesian war, I think I like the Bioware RPGness of the game. There

Cyberpunk 2077 trailer

Seems like some big announcements were made today and yesterday at this year's E3.  I hadn't even seen anything regarding this game in the game press (not that I was paying particular attention) but this game looks likeit could be a lot of fun, wrapped up in an interesting story.

Review: Star Trek: Captain's Log

Star Trek: Captain's Log by David TiptonMy rating: 5 of 5 stars I wasn't sure how much I'd enjoy reading stories about secondary captains (Jelico, Sulu, Hariman), i.e. those not seen on screen for very long - but these were actually quite good short stories. I wouldn't mind having more Hariman or Jelico stories come our way! It was also interesting to see the excelsior class go from brand

Adieu Yahoo Messager...for good this time?

Yahoo Messager "classic", the service that existed when I was in high school and college has been defunct for a little while now, but Yahoo! decided to reinvent itself in the messaging app business by revamping...or rather starting a new service and a new app and calling that yahoo messenger.  This also included Yahoo's own version of a two factor authenticator which I actually rather liked.

Make it slow!

One of the weaker episodes of TNG, as far as I am concerned.  The one where Wesley accidentally trips over some dandelions and gets the death penalty. A nice pun on "make it so" however, so points for that ;-) (original archive here)

Review: Designing and Conducting Mixed Methods Research

Designing and Conducting Mixed Methods Research by John W. CreswellMy rating: 5 of 5 stars A good primer on mixed methods research. I wish I had made this part of my original reading list last summer when I was conceiving of my (current version for my) dissertation proposal plan.  Mixed methods fits well with one of the reasons  I am using case study research as my approach.

Victory is life is here!

Well, the fourth expansion of Star Trek Online, which brings us a sliver of the Gamma quadrant, gamma recruits, and the Jem'Hadar playable faction is here today! I had an opportunity to play a bit today as a new Jem'Hadar "first" (aka captain) under the name of Arak'Ouzo (yes having some fun with the name).  The first couple of missions were quite fun to play, and flying a "bug-ship" is quite
