Over the years I've tried out almost every social network I could get my hands on. What can I say, I love tinkering and trying new things :-). However, on source of irritation these days are networks like ResearchGate and Academia.edu. It seems like forever ago since I've read this article by Maha Bali on ProfHacker on Hidden Scholarship†. It's actually been on my radar for a while, but between work and class the mind space for this was not available.In any case, if you haven't read this brief post on ProfHacker it's worthwhile reading. Maha writes about things that go under-reported, or not reported at all when it comes to scholarship

For as long as I can remember (well...for the last 10 years anyway) I've been able to participate in at least 2 our of 3 virtual conferences that the OLC (formerly Sloan-C) put on. I've never been able to attend in person (for a variety of reasons), but I've always liked to have the ability to participate, even remotely.
