Here's an interesting thought. Back in the early days of the internet, when Joe Shmoe wanted to have an internet presence, he needed to code in HTML, get some web space and have his website hosted. As that average Joe, I created my site first with Geocities's site builder, then through HTML, and eventually through RapidWeaver.

Of course the question now is do we need to spend money on a hosting service? Blogs can be had freely through services like blogger, wordpress, and vox. Without much fuss you can share your photos for free on flickr, you can share your files for free on Box.net, and you can add your microblogging status on your blog's page through twitter.

Was there something else I didn't cover? Now granted, having a provider that gives me a free domain, wordpress, plus PHP/MySQL webspace for $180/3 years is a pretty good deal, but it just dawned on me that I could give it all up, pay $20/year for a domain, and have my wordpress blog be the "homepage" and links on the sidebar can contain the rest of my content. I guess it's easier than ever for the layman to express himself online these days.

I was looking at various people on LinkedIn a few weeks back to see if there are any acquaintances on there, and I came across an individual who had this in their blurb about themselves (changed mildly to protect the innocent):

“PMP certified IT Project Manager with over fifteen years of experience with the ability to leverage her proven record of strategic leadership in solving complex business problems, increase ROI and decrease CTO, as part of a collaborative work environment.”

Maybe it’s the fact that I am sensitive to business bull after having listened to the Bullfighter’s guide, but all I can say is WOW! I can’t really believe that she speaks about herself in the third person and has one sentence so fortified with business bull. Now, I don’t know this person, but if I were a hiring manager I would say that there is a lot of smoke blow from her direction. I personally prefer to more personal blurb. You can be a high powered whatever, but making your blurb more personal shows that you are a person and thus, in my opinion, more valuable to the organization than a business bull automaton.

Just my two cents…

STOP! JUST STOP! STOP, READ, THINK!

Now that I’ve got that out of my system, here is what instigated that reaction. Over the past year or so I’ve been getting emails from my friends, similar to the one bellow, with subjects such as “MSN is shutting down”, “MSN will stop being free”, or the most recent “MSN is chutting down” (chutting? Was the person who wrote the email from Spain or something?)

The rationale that these dimwits are putting forth for their really annoying email is a news story from the BBC from September 2001. Well, guess what, it’s 2008 and Microsoft is still not charging anyone to use their basic services (which include msn spaces, hotmail and MSN Live messenger).

I have high regard for my friends, I do believe that they are intelligent people, but every time I get a message like this in my mailbox I tend to question how much critical thinking my friends do. If you look at the message (beyond the out-dated article), the email message has many grammatical errors, IT USES THE ANNOYING CAPS LOCK TO GRAB YOUR ATTENTION, the directors are tara and john and they claim that inconsiderate people are taking up all the usernames (really? Wow! It’s Y2K all over again!)

I urge my friends to STOP, for a moment. READ their email messages. Critically THINK about the content of that email message, and then take appropriate action. In this case creating a new email message, copying, and pasting this text in the body of the new message and sending it to your friends is not the appropriate action. The appropriate action is hitting the delete button. You are intelligent people, don’t spread this kind of non-sense on the internet!

Your MSN buddy did become blue by the way, he held his breath until he became blue in the face…

Having 'just' graduated from the MBA program, I know of a lot of new age management techniques and theories (that made consultants money hands over fist!) that just fell flat on their face and caused industry many growing pains when they tried to implement them, but suffered the results of both implementation (remember, most people resist change!) and the results of the failure of the theory (because after all it was just a fad).

When I go to the library, I tend to just stick to three sections (1) Technology - where I can go and get how-to books on 'new' technologies such as AJAX, (2) Animé - Where I can go get my dose of Sci-Fi excitement (X/1999) and drop-to-your-knees comedy (Sgt. Frog), and (3) Movies - If you are patient, the public library gets all the new movies, just request it and when it is available you will get to see it. I know it's a bit of a Soviet way of thinking, but if I really, really, really want to see a movie, I will just get it on on-demand, but by-en-large I can wait - but I diverge!

Recently my wife was looking in the business section of the library, because she wanted to have a look at what people have been writing about small businesses, so I ventured into the business section of the library with her. I noticed a whole heck of a lot of new age management books (with titles similar to the comic strip above). Some methodologies are OK, and can work, some are just total crap, but as the comic strip says 'it's crazy enough, it might just work!" When people try to implement an improvement strategy, based on one of these books, they
focus too much on the actual strategy and methodology itself and not on what they actually want to accomplish! Which is why things fail.

This reminds me of our library's BUM meetings (an unfortunate acronym, I know!). This was a prelude to the strategic planning meetings that we would later have. The point of the meeting, like all Strategic Planning Meetings, was supposed to be where do we see the library in 10 years and what is our action plan? OK. What did it devolve to? Instead of discussing goals, objectives and action plans for the future, we started talking about HEADLINES - yes! Headlines we would like to see in the newspaper about the library! The New age management BS-o-meter went off when I heard the plan of what we were doing. It could have stayed on point, it could have worked, but it didn't. People spent too much time stressing about the headlines to actually think of the basics of any Strategic Plan such as a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis!!!

Now this incident was many, many months ago, perhaps even last semester. There are no more BUM meetings (thank God!), but they have been replaced by actual strategic planning committees which now, thankfully, involve all library staff (after all, any good manager knows that good ideas float to the top, but if you don't involve the line workers, you don't have the opportunity to have them float up). To my knowledge, we have not had any strategic planning meetings, sub-meetings, pre-meetings, or even water-cooler talk! I wonder if people are still stick on the Headlines - extra extra, read all about it!

I've been working on this for the last four to five months - between work, life, and homework I haven't had much time!

Today is Marathon Monday here in Boston, however it's not like past marathon mondays.
Today it's cold, and wet...and windy! I've been living in the area since 1994, and I don't recall ever having such bad weather on marathon monday!
The Boston Athletics Association, the organizers of the marathon, have arranged for busses to pick up marathon runners 'who just had too much' and don't want to continue running. While I think that there should be emergency crews on stand by, in case of medical emergency, I think it is counter to the spirit of the marathon to provide transportation to quitters. Running a marathon is no simple task, I would not be able to do it (at least in the shape I am in), but if I were to run that would imply that I put a lot of work into it, which means that neither rain, nor slow, nor sleet, nor ice, nor gale force winds would keep me from running/sprinting/jogging/power walking across that finish line. Don't be a quitter!

Unfortunately I was not able to continue with my studies of the Japanese language this semester, but my hard work over the summer to compile a reference of Japanese Grammar should not go to waster. It will be useful later on when I can continue Japanese
This is by no means a completed document, but I hope it's useful for students of Japanese out there on the Internet!

Να' μαι και πάλι!
   Χάθηκα τόσο καιρό αλλά ήμουν Ελλάδα. Ο παππούς μου, ο πατέρας τις μάνας μου, απεβίωσε και έπρεπε σαν καλό παιδί να πάω και να βοηθήσω την γιαγιά, να χαιρετίσω τον κόσμο που ήρθε για την κηδεία και όλα τα σχετικά. Ο θείος μου (ο πρωτογενείς της οικογένεια&sigmaf δεν ήρθε για τον άλφα ή βήτα λόγο. Έτσι ο πρωτογενείς εγγονός έσπευσε να βοηθήσει την οικογένεια.
   Τελικός το δημόσιο στην Ελλάδα είναι ένα μπάχαλο. Είδα και έπαθα να βγάλω μια ταυτότητά! Ναι μεν δεν είχα γεννηθεί στην Ελλάδα, αλλά και στο ληξιαρχείο είχα γραφτεί, και σχολείο πήγα στην Ελλάδα, και οι γονείς μου ήταν Έλληνες, και έμενα Ελλάδα για εννέα ολόκληρα χρόνια! Δηλαδή τι άλλο θέλανε; Τελικός ήρθα πίσω στην Βοστόνη, πήγα στο προξενείο και έκανα εκεί την δουλειά μου για να γίνω επίσημα Έλληνας, και φυσικά να σε λίγο καιρό θα βγάλω και Ελληνικό διαβατήριο. Φυσικά, για να μου σπάσετε τα νεύρα, μετά από μια εβδομάδα που έφυγα από Ελλάδα ψηφίστηκε σχετικός νόμος να μπορούν οι πολίτες να βγάζουν ταυτότητα στα ΚΕΠ, και να κάνουν όλη την δουλειά τα ΚΕΠ... ΕΛΛΑΣ ΤΟ ΜΕΓΑΛΕΙΟΝ ΣΟΥ! 
   Κατά τ' άλλα πήγα και λίγο θάλασσα, ξεχαρβαλώθηκα στο μπόουλινγκ στην Πάτρα, και τώρα...επιστροφή στα βάσανα! Έχω δύο φοβερές επιλογές! Η πρώτη είναι να μπω και εγώ στον ρυθμό του δημόσιου υπάλληλου και να μην μου καίγεται καρφί, ή να αλλάξω εργασία να πάω σε άλλο τμήμα γιατί το τμήμα μου είναι για τα μπάζα. Όχι μόνο αυτό αλλά και επιπλέον το αφεντικό μου δεν έπρεπε ποτέ του να είχε πάρει προαγωγή να είναι ο προϊστάμενος του τμήματος γιατί δεν έχει τα προσόντα, και στην τελική ανάλυση κάνω εγώ την δουλειά του. Ώρες ώρες μου έρχεται να τον σαμποτάρω για να πάρω εγώ την δόξα χέ χέ χέ.
   Αλλάζουμε γρανάζι τώρα: Τα μαθήματα αρχίζουν σε δύο εβδομάδες. Να σου πω την αλήθεια, δεν μπορώ να περιμένω! Σε ένα χρόνο (ή 10 μαθήματα, αναλόγως όπως το δει κανεί&sigmaf αποφοιτώ με Μάστερ σε διοίκηση επιχειρήσεων! Το σχέδιο είναι να πάω καπάκι για δεύτερο Μάστερ σε εφαρμοσμένη γλωσσολογία, και μετά, άμα έχω κουράγιο για Διδακτορικό σε εφαρμοσμένη πληροφορική. Τώρα που θα πάω για το Διδακτορικό δεν ξέρω ακόμα. Σκέφτομαι για Μόντρεαλ, 'η Φλόριντα, δεν ξέρω ακόμα όμως. Μια μέρα θα με λέτε Δόκτωρ Αποστόλη - την ψώνισα! 
   Αυτά για τώρα, εσείς τι νέα; Στείλτε e-mail και πείτε μου αφού δεν έχω commenting system εγκατεστιμένο.

Χαίρε Τέκνα! 
Η μαλακία ο υπολογιστής τα έπαιζε! Είχα γράψει την πρώτη του μηνός σε αυτή την ολόιδια σελίδα πώς εσείς τα ρεμάλια ξεχάσατε την γιορτή μου και μόνο ένα-δύο άτομα μου στείλανε μηνύματα (μπράβο ρε σκάτζ και νεμίκα που με θυμηθήκατε!!! )αλλά δεν σας κρατάω κακία! Άλλωστε τι φιλαράκια θα ήμασταν άμα σας κράταγα κακία; Λοιπόν τα νέα - το Λάς Βέγκας ήταν ΓΑΜΑΤΟ! Θέλω να ξαναπάω να δω όσα δεν είδα! Στην δουλειά έχει πέσει ένα φοβερό κύμα βαρεμάρας. Δεν γίνονται και πολλά πράγματα, η πελατεία για το καλοκαίρι έχει πέσει, οπότε και εγώ έχω αρχίσει να διαβάζω την ύλη για τα μαθήματα που θα έχω τον Σεπτέμβρη. Των φρονίμων τα παιδιά, πριν πεινάσουν μαγειρεύουν! Τον Σεπτέμβρη, εκτός από κάτι εργασίες που πρέπει να κάνω, θα είναι όλα λούφα - ή τουλάχιστον εύχομαι να είναι.
Σε άλλα νέα, τώρα τελευταία άρχισα πάλι να μιλάω σε κάτι παλιά φιλαράκια από το ίντερνετ, αν θέλετε να μιλήσουμε βρείτε με στο Yahoo, MSN, AIM (iChat) ή και σε κάνα Skype άμα λάχει. Μακάρι όμως να ήμουν Ελλάδα - αλλά αυτό τον καημό τον αφήνω για άλλη φορά.
Τσίου τσίου παιδιά!

Back from Las Vegas. I had gone there for a work related conference. This was my first time west of NYC! It was fun, lots of Geek stuff atInfoComm '05, and of course Vegas is just something else! Lots of lightsand attractions. I saw the Blue Man Group. I highly recommend going to see them. Now back to watching TV...

έχω να γράψω πολύ καιρό!
Είχα ένα τρίμηνο πολύ "γάμησε τα" κατάσταση. Τα μαθήματα με καταπλάκωναν, οι εργασίες σύννεφο, και οι οι εργασίες που έπρεπε να συνεργαστώ με άλλους για να τις τελειώσουμε ήταν πολλές. Νόμιζα πως θα τα πήγαινα καλά αυτό το τρίμηνο με τους βαθμούς...αλλά όχι και τόσο καλά! Έκανα τέσσερα μαθήματα (τρία για βαθμό, ένα για πλάκ&alpha και σε όλα πήρα 'Α' ! (κάτι σαν το 10 του δημοτικού στην Ελλάδ&alpha. Σου λέω έμεινα! Πολύ απρόσμενο αυτό! Λες να κάνανε λάθος; Χέ χέ χέ.
Τα πράγματα τώρα ήρεμα. Την άλλη εβδομάδα πάω σε συνέδριο και έκθεση στο Λας Βέγκας, φυσικά όλα πληρωμένα από την δουλειά. Πολύ φάση θα έχει όλη η κατάσταση. Ίσως να πάω να δω και το Star Trek Experience άμα έχω χρόνο εκτός του συνεδρίου. Τα σχέδια για το καλοκαίρι είναι όλα χαλαρά. Έχω τα βιβλία τα τα τέσσερα μαθήματα που αρχίζουν τον Σεπτέμβρη τα οποία θα διαβάσω, έχω DVD ελληνικά, γαλλικά και γιαπωνέζικα τα οποία έχω να 'δω, και φυσικά λούφα στο μπαλκόνι με ένα καφεδάκι και μουσική. Μακάρι να μπορούσα να έρθω Ελλάδα το καλοκαίρι, σνίφ! Άντε πάω να παίζω lotto μπας και κερδίσω τίποτα

WOW! almost end of the semester! I've been super busy with work and school, so almost no time for updates, but I have been slowly working toward making my France '04 photos more accessible, and upload my Greece '05 photos. More in June!

Yeeeees! It is now 2005! Who would have thunk it? I was in Greece for three weeks in January, had a great time despite the family obligations. My father's side is a riot, as always, my mom's side... well, I chose to not socialize with them that much. I spent about half my time in Amaliada, and half my time in Athens. Personally I would have preferred to stay more in Athens than Amaliada. There were literally three people which had remained there after college, and all of them worked. Wages are despicable in Greece. 
The average pay is for a non-skilled worker is €650 per month. ouch! This is not to say that skilled workers get paid a whole lot more. Here is an example: friends and family of mine that have skills acquired through the traditional college experience get a mere €1000 per month. How people get by is beyond me, given that prices for bare necessities (like clothes, groceries and rent) keep going up. Prices for groceries are increasing at a rate higher than inflation, while wages remain stagnant.
In the past I had ambitions of returning to Greece, I believe that most Greeks living abroad have this desire within them, but once they see current conditions in Greece as a whole (politics, policies, unemployment, nepotism, and so on), they get a cold shower and come back to reality.
Anywho, back to things at hand. Work, going OK. Economics 101, as demand increases, supply decreases. This semester demand has skyrocketed, but supply is constant, this means that there are some clients that are left without the equipment they require to conduct class. I guess what my grandmother said still holds true "prudent kids cook before they are hungry" (rough translation from Greek)...
Classes are going well, and I must say that this is the first semester that I am enjoying ALL of my classes. I am currently doing three classes and if all goes according to my master plan I will have my MBA by August 2006.

Wow, what a semester it has been! All done with accounting and statistics, and I am now enjoying the break. Today is snowing like crazy. I am sitting an enjoying the view from my third floor apartment

Χρόνια και ζαμάνια ε; Πολύ δουλειά έχει πέσει με το παν/μιο και την δουλειά. Ανέβασα μια γραμματική της Βιετναμέζικης γλώσσας. Δεν την έχω ελεγξει ακόμα για ορθογραφικά λόγο έλειψεις χρόνου. Ισως να το κάνω το άλλο καλοκαίρι.

Long time no see. School and Work keeping me quite busy. I have uploaded a "beta" of a vietnamese grammar reference that I had been working on in the summer. I've got no time now to proofread it. Maybe next summer.

Οι Ολυμπιακοί τελείωσαν και μπορώ να πω πώς η τελετή στο τέλος ήταν ενδιαφέρων. Τώρα επιστροφή στην σκληρή δουλειά και στα θρανία. Αυτό το τρίμηνο ξαναρχίζω Ιαπωνικά, έτσι για πλάκα, και για το Μάστερ θα έχω Στατιστική και Λογιστική.

The Olympics are over. I must say that I found teh ending ceremony quite interesting. Now back to hard hard work, and school. I am starting Japanese again this semester. I am also taking accounting and statistics for my Master's requirement.

Η Ελλάδα έχει τώρα αργυρό μετάλλιο στο Wind Surfing, χρυσό στο τζούντο, στην ιστιοπλοΐα, και σε μερικά ακόμα αθλήματα. Οι Η.Π.Α. έχουν και αυτές αρκετά μετάλλια αλλά αξίζει να επισημάνω τον αθλητή Ρουλον Γκάρντνερ των Η.Π.Α. ο οποίος πήρε χάλκινο στην ελληνορωμαϊκή πάλη και τώρα "παίρνει σύνταξη" από το άθλημα. Συγχαρητήρια σε όλους τους αθλητές των ολυμπιακών! 3 μέρες παρέμειναν για τους ολυμπιακούς της Αθήνας. Δείτε τους, και μην τολμήσετε να χάσετε την τελετή! Ελπίζω να μας κάνετε όλους περιφανούς παιδία!

Greece has won a Silver medal in Wind Surfing, and a gold in Judo, a gold in Sailing and in a few more events. The USA has won a ton of medals as well, I would like to point out one in particular, Rulon Gardner who is now retired. He won the Bronze. Congrats to all contestants! 3 more days of olympics. You better watch the closing ceremonies.

ΟΙ ΟΛΥΜΠΙΑΚΟΙ ΑΡΧΙΣΑΝ!!!! Η Ελλάδα κέρδισε μάλιστα και χρυσό στο τζούντο! (Μπράβο παιδιά!) Έλειπα για αρκετό καιρό έτσι; Είχα λιγότερο καιρό απ'όσο νόμιζα! Όλα πάνε καλά όμως. Όσο έλειπα έγραψα ένα εγχειρίδιο για τα λεγόμενα smartphones (κάντε κλικ εδώ για να το διαβάσετε - στα Αγγλικά) και έψαχνα παραπάνω φωτογραφίες από τις διακοπές μου για να δω άμα είναι καμιά καλή να την βάλω εδώ. Είδα και λίγο από τους Ολυμπιακούς αγώνες που διεξάγονται τώρα στα πάτρια εδάφη και μπορώ να πω πώς η τελετή έναρξής ήταν φοβερή! Το μόνο που με ξενέρωσε ήταν μια ηλίθια Αμερικανίδα ψευδο-ρεπόρτερ, ονόματος Katie Courir, η οποία πέταγε μεγάλες μαλακίες ΚΑΙ δεν ήξερε που είναι το Αζερμπαϊτζάν!!! Είπε πώς το Αζερμπαϊτζάν είναι στην Δυτική Ευρώπη! Αν είναι δυνατόν! Ξενέρωτη!
Την επόμενη μέρα οι εφημερίδες έγραψαν πώς το κοινό δεν δέχτηκε τους Αμερικανούς με αρκετή "αγάπη" επειδή δεν είχαν αρκετά χειροκροτήματα . Φίλοι και φίλες, όταν ένας Αμερικανός μπαίνει στο στάδιο δεν είναι ανάγκη να ξεσηκωθεί το κοινό για να δείξει αγάπη και σεβασμό για τους αθλητές ενός Κράτους! Οι Αμερικανοί δέχτηκαν με το ίδιο σεβασμό όπως και οι αθλητές από άλλα κράτη Επιπλέον, αν υπάρχουν μερικά "μπού" και μερικά κακά σφυρίγματα, αυτό είναι κατανοητό, έτσι δεν είναι; Το γεγονός είναι ως εξής - Μερικοί σε γουστάρουν, άλλοι σε μισούν, και άλλοι, δεν τους καίγεται καρφί! Έτσι είναι η ζωή φίλε μου! Αν εσύ νομίζεις πώς όλοι σε αγαπάνε, και άμα προσπαθείς να μετρήσεις αυτή την αγάπη και τον σεβασμό μέσω των χειροκροτημάτων, τότε...κούνια που σε κούναγε φιλαράκι μου! Α ναι, ξέχασα, ο διορθωτής μου τα έχει παίξει όποτε όλα τα οπότε μάλλον θα υπάρχουν πολλά ορθογραφικά - λολ

THE OLYMPICS HAVE STARTED!!!! Greece has a gold medal in Judo (Go Greece!) I've been gone for a long time haven't I? I had a little less time than I had originally imagined! Things are going well. I have created a primer on smartphones in addition to going over vacation photos to see if I can add any more online. I spent time watching some of the Olympic events, and the starting ceremonies which blew me away! I must say though Katie Couric, a faux-reporter for NBC, is as dumb as they come. She and Bob Costas ruined part of the ceremony for me with their babbling and utterly unintelligent comments. Katie believes that Azerbaijan is in Eastern Europe...yeah! Here's a tip for you Katie, go buy a map, it comes in handy from time to time.
I was also blown away by what some of the commentators in wrote in newspapers - whine about the lukewarm reception of the US olympic team. Just because Americans are entering the stadium doesn't mean that the crowd should go wild. The Americans got just as much applause as any other nation that entered that arena. Furthermore any minor boo-ing or hissing is understandable, is it not? There is a mentality present in the USA whereby if something is wrong we act as if it is not making elaborate gestures to prove that nothing is wrong when in reality something is bothering us- this is not how most of the world operates. The fact of the matter is that some people will like you, others will not, and others will be indifferent, that is life. If you want to pretend that everyone likes you and you are basing that on the amount of applause you get - man are you in for a rude awakening!

Χαίρε Τέκνα! Επέστρεψα από τις διακοπές, είχα πάει Γαλλία για μερικές εβδομάδες και το ευχαριστήθηκα αρκετά!. Έβγαλα αρκετές φωτογραφίες και με το κινητό και με κανονική μηχανή 35μμ και θα βάλω μερικές φωτογραφίες στον ιστότοπο εντός ημερών. Η Γαλλία ήταν αρκετά όμορφη και ζεστή, πέρασα καλά και εξάσκησα και τα γαλλικά μου (αμέ!) Όσο ήμουν Γαλλία είχα μια κάρτα SIM από την Γαλλική telecom SFR, και εντός ημερών θα γράψω μερικά πράγματα στο HowardForums όσον αφορά τις εμπειρίες χρήσης. Όσον αφορά το γενεαλογικό δέντρο λειτουργικών συστημάτων, έχω παραμελήσει την αναβάθμιση του δέντρου γιατί έχω ΠΟΛΛΕΣ νέες πληροφορίες αλλά δεν έχω χρόνο να τις εισάγω! I am back from Vacation! I had been in France for a few weeks and I enjoyed every bit of it! I was a bit unlucky though and I had appendicitis one week prior to my departure, luckily nothing was infected and the appendix was removed without complications. I did spend a couple of weeks recovering and it did not jeopardize my vacation. I will be putting some photos on here shortly that I took with my P800 and some taken with a regular 35mm camera and scanned. While there I used a pre-paid SFR SIM card. I will be posting my thoughts on HowardForums later on as well. 
I am still gathering data on the OS chart but as I look around other OS charts more OS info is cropping up! In addition I am working on a linux family tree which is making my life crazy! I have put the OS projects on hold for a while until I can come up with a better strategy, and until I can refine the representation of the data.

4 Εβδομάδες και τέρμα τα μαθήματα!!! Γιούπι!!!! Έχω ακόμα το Organizational Analysis Project και την εργασία Aston-Blair να παραδώσω αλλά καμία ανησυχία, η ομάδα μου γ*μ* και δέρνει χέ χέ χέ! η Εθνική οδός I-93 μου σπάει τα νεύρα λόγο κακού προγραμματισμού και επειδή υπάρχουν αρκετοί τρελοί με δίπλωμα και άδεια οδήγησης (δίπλωμα χωρίς μυαλό πώς πήραν αναρωτιέται το διανοούμενος...). Τέλος πάντων, είναι όπως την έχω ονομάσει Η Βοστονέζικη Εμπειρία.

The time is almost here! Four more weeks of school then summer, oh glorious glorious summer, will be here! Still have the Organizational Analysis Project and the Aston-Blair case to do but it shouldn't be hard, our team rocks! I-93 is somewhat of a pain-in-the-ass with the constant changing of the detours, crazy lane-cutting drivers, and people without any manners (or common sense). What can you do? It's what I like to call The Boston Experience.

Ο μαραθώνιος των μαθημάτων και της εργασίας συνεχίζετε! Άντε σε καλό να μας βγει! Το νέο κτήριο στο πανεπιστήμιο άνοιξε και φαίνεται σαν αεροδρόμιο, δεν υπάρχουν ενδεικτικές πινακίδες όμως και μπορείς να χαθείς εύκολα! Τρέχα γύρευε! τα μαθήματα πάνε καλά και μου αρέσει το μάθημα με την καθηγήτρια Tonn, αλλά πολύ δουλειά βρε αδελφέ! Η ομάδα μου έχει τρεις εργασίες, μεγάλες, που πρέπει να παραδοθούν σε 2 εβδομάδες...άντε τώρα επιστρέφω εν εργασία.

And the marathon continues! The new building is now opening on campus at the end of the month and it looks like an airport terminal. nice design but it feels like someone can get lost in there! It needs more signage. School is going well, really enjoying class with professor Tonn. The team has projects due in a couple of weeks...multiple projects - so back to work now.

Καλά ντε! μην φωνάζετε!!! Ξέρω πώς έκανα κάτι χρόνια να αναβαθμίσω την σελίδα, αλλά η δουλειά και τα θρανία είναι σαν διαόλια! Από την μία η δουλειά. 40 ώρες την εβδομάδα, και από την άλλη το σχολείο, βάλε άλλες 20. Άντε βγάλε άκρη! Αποφάσισα λοιπόν να βάλω την ιστοσελίδα στο ίντερνετ όπως είναι και σιγά σιγά να την φτιάχνω. Το project που κάνω για την γενεαλογία των λειτουργικών συστημάτων δεν το έχω τελειώσει ακόμα, όποτε άμα θέλετε να δείτε τις εικόνες κατεβάστε τες στον υπολογιστή σας και μετά ανοίξτε τες γιατί αλλιώς προβλέπω μεγάλα κολλήματα Αυτάαααα. Άντε και τα λέμε σύντομα!

I know, I know!!! It's been a long time! Well... I am back up now. I decided to put up a half made site and work out the issues while being online. How bad can it be? I am a bit swamped with work and my night-time MBA classes - but I shall find the time! My OS project is no where near complete...and by the way, save the image, don't try to open it in your browser! It might crash your computer. You've been waaaarned!

Επέστρεψα!
Με πήρε παραπάνω καιρό απ' όσο περίμενα για να κάνω τις αναβαθμίσεις που ήθελα, αλλά τι να κάνουμε; Αυτά έχει η ζωή! Είχα αρκετές εργασίες πανεπιστημιακές να τελειώσω, είχα την δουλειά (που πληρώνει τα έξοδ&alpha, και φυσικά την κοπέλα (ποίος μπορεί να την ξεχάσει; χέχέ). Το καλό είναι πώς τώρα πια είμαι πτυχιούχος! Ναι φιλαράκια μου! Είναι πια γεγονός, έχω Batchelor στην πληροφορική.

Τώρα ίσως να αναρωτιέστε τι κάνω από εδώ και πέρα. Διαβάζω για εισαγωγικές εξετάσεις και κάνω τα χαρτιά μου για τα μεταπτυχιακά. Θα παρακολουθήσω μαθήματα για διπλό μεταπτυχιακό στην Διοίκηση επιχειρήσεων και στην πληροφορική. Από Σεπτέμβρη με Δεκέμβρη έχω "διακοπές" από τα θρανία (αν και θα κάνω μαθήματα Ρωσικών και Κινέζικω&nu, και από Φλεβάρη αρχίζω τα κανονικά μαθήματα.

Τώρα όσο αφορά την ιστοσελίδα, θα έχετε παρατηρήσει πώς υπάρχουν μερικές αλλαγές. Έφυγαν οι πολλές γλώσσες γιατί είχαν αρκετά λάθει. Αυτό εδώ θα είναι το Λουκ τις ιστοσελίδα για τα ερχόμενα χρόνια, οπότε θα μεταφράζω την σελίδα σε δύο γλώσσες κάθε χρόνο. Αυτή η σελίδα θα είναι κάπως σαν BLOG, δηλαδή κάτι σαν ημερολόγιο στο ίντερνετ.

Οτιδήποτε είχε σχέση με το Yahoo το έβγαλα από την σελίδα γιατί δεν πήγαινε άλλο. Αναβάθμισα και τον κώδικα HTML του ιστοτόπου. Σε κάνα δυο χρόνια (όταν έχω τον χρόν&omicron θέλω πια να μεταφέρω τα πάντα σε PHP και mySQL ή σε Coldfusion.

I am back!
I know it took longer than I expected to get a new version of the website up and running, however had a lot to do! First of foremost work. I had a lot of managing to do at work, changes to make and projects to finish. Furthermore I had a lot of classwork as well! The good thing is that at last I have graduated. I now have a Bachelors in Computer Science!

You might be wondering what is next in the grande schedule of life. Well first of all I will continue to work! Secondly I will be entering Graduate school after one semester. I want to pursue an MBA degree as well as a Masters in Computer Science (and learn a few more languages of course). Until I start classes I will take a semester "off" from regular classes and audit chinese (mandarin) courses.

Now in terms of the website, you probably noticed that it looks different. I think that a radical change was appropriate for several reasons. The first reason is that having completed my Bachelors, I thought that I had to make a few changes in terms of the user Interface. The old user interface was not as good as it could have been. Secondly the old content was out-dated, there were invalid links, problems with translations, and the site was made up like Frankenstein. It was all pieces that were unrelated and put together in unrelated ways. That is not good.
Finally yahoo! I did not have the money to keep paying yahoo for web-space, and I had a lot of yahoo dependent code. This was an opportunity to purge the yahoo dependent code from my site and start all over with something new and exciting.

I have modified old sections, I have added new, and removed old ones. The music mix was, is and will be one of the main features of club admiralty since the main purpose of the site is to expose the listener to new kinds of music, and to a lesser extent technology and entertainment.
