Apple Newton Ad
21/January/2009 09:06 Filed in: Technology
Earlier this month I went to visit my dad, and per
chance I picked up a box with old memorabilia which
included old apple ads from magazines like MacUser,
MacWorld and MacAddict (as well as a few full
issues!)
I found this ad for an Apple Newton 2100 which is awesome (and it made me want a Newton even more, even though as a high school students I could not afford one).

Waste of Bandwidth!

I gotta say that I am a teeny bit upset at the waste
of bandwidth that is taking over the internet these
days. Here are some of my least favorite bandwidth
wasting types of activities:
You go to NBC, you click to see a small clip from Last Comic Standing, maybe 4 minutes in total length. Before you can see each mini clip, you HAVE to watch a 30 second add. Seriously?!
You go to a news site, and two thirds of the page is covered in ads. OK, I can deal with it (somewhat) if they are text ads, but those annoying animated GIFs (or worse flash animations) are distracting, annoying and taking up my bandwidth!
You go to that same news site, and they have a flash movie running of the recent (insert film name here) flick, in muted mode. Why do I need to see this? If I want to see a trailer of the movie, I’ll head over to quicktime.com and see it! I don’t want to have it wasting my screen real estate and my bandwidth!
These ads are getting annoying!

Annoying DVD ads!
25/May/2007 12:47 Filed in: WTF?!
I have not watched newer movies in a long time.
I've been doing some catch up on the weekends on films that I missed during this, and last, semester.
Back in the day, when DVDs were new, one of the features touted was that you did not have the 'coming attractions' at the beginning of the film, like you did with VHS tapes, thus you could watch the film you bought (or rented) right away. Well now it seems like publishers of DVDs are going back to the good ol' days of VHS. every single film I have watched the last few weekends has had 'coming attractions' preceding the film and you did not have the ability to hit the menu to go to the movie's options (scene selection, play film, etc). The only thing you could do is fast forward or next scene which moved you on to the next 'coming attraction'.
Gimme a break!
I hated the 'coming attractions'
in VHS and I hate them on DVD! I like to have
them as optional, like they were for so many
years, so I could go and see what movies are
interesting AFTER I have watched what I
paid for!
