OK, so yesterday I wrote about the funny Greek captions on the iPad intro video on YouTube. I started transcribing the Greek, but two minutes in I got tired (too much work). The original video can be found on youtube (see previous post) and Engadget's English caption screenshots can be found here (click)
Anyway - here is the Greek:

The iPad video, as captioned by Google - in GREEK
I came across this story from Engadget. If you head over to YouTube you can access some beta features such as automatic captioning of videos and automatic translation of said videos. Now, I had never viewed the iPad intro video, so this was all new to me. I clicked on the Closed Captioning to enable it and the English was somewhat amusing.
The fun really kicked in when I clicked on Greek translation. Watching this video is like Babelfish to the power of 10! I will try to capture the text sometime this week and translate it back to English (personal translation and a babelfish one). It should be humorous :-)

I saw this the other night when I got home after having seen it on Twitter (via @asteris).
Honestly the situation seems like a major clusterfuck. It seems like a classic north south divide and the unfortunate (or just callous use of the PIGS acronym) is making things worse.

Winter Olympics
Here's an excerpt from last week's saturday night live.
I laughed out loud when I saw it because often times I have the same reaction to Winter Olympics :-)

Symbian^3 and Symbian^4
Well, Symbian^3 is going to be out later on this year and I am looking forward to it!
Now sooner than Symbian^3 is announced, Symbian^4 "first look" videos are already out:
The future looks bright for Symbian. Even though I like my iPhone, I would switch back to symbian if:
I have to say that my iPhone+Mac+Mobile Me experience has spoiled me, so much so that I view switching platform as a big PITA.

The future looks bright for Symbian. Even though I like my iPhone, I would switch back to symbian if:
- I could get a phone subsidized by my carrier
- I could easily install Greek support on it
- I could sync easily with my Mac's PIM
- I could sync with Mobile Me
- I could sync my music easily
I have to say that my iPhone+Mac+Mobile Me experience has spoiled me, so much so that I view switching platform as a big PITA.

Finally a Windows Phone that I am jazzed about!
After many years of Microsoft holding onto backward compatibility, they've decided to pull a MacOS and move forward! This is something they needed to do for a while because, as I've said before, the older code base was holding them back! Now they can finally move forth without the ball-and-chain of backward compatibility, innovate AND finally integrate some of their other properties like Zune and XboX.
I am not a huge Zune fan, but I do like the slogan "every windows phone a zune"

Pretty funny!
First it started with Facebook, MySpace and Twitter status updates (i.e. getting caught in a lie about your whereabouts - especially if it's work related - and now it's moving into Foursquare and the like. I do wonder if people know that their info is actually public and not private, unless otherwise specified.
I wonder how Google Buzz fits into all of this (and how it can be parodied!)
Restaurant closes - loss to Salem

I was walking over to an Indian restaurant on valentine's day to grab some dinner for us and I noticed that the Edgewater Cafe, an awesome Mexican place, closed down last November. Yeah it's a little late (3 months after the fact) but it's still sad. That place had some killer food!
On the nice side of things, their chef went to a sister restaurant so the food is still accessible and a Mediterranean restaurant us opening in it's place. I hope that they've got some tasty Greek food!
