Here's another series I binged back in May-June. Another series I wanted to like, but...m'eh. Also a series that I only stuck around to the end of season 2 because of Lena Headey being headlined 😂

The gist of the story is that there are space-based lighthouses (called Beacons) and just like their terrestrial counterparts, they serve as navigational beacons helping spacefarers navigate the hazards of the cosmos.  Cool! That describes the where this story (or series of stories?) takes place.  

Every Beacon is run by one highly trained human (Stephan James's character: Harlan) and a specialized AI. Aster (Headey) mysteriously finds her way to the lonely Beacon-keeper Halan, and a tense battle of wills unfolds. Halan begins to question whether Aster is friend or foe, as her ability to disguise her agenda and motives could make her a formidable opponent. I mean, the synopsis seems to make it seem worthwhile, but it's not a coherent story. Rather, it feels like a series of intersecting smaller stories that builds a picture of a story universe. For example, in season 2 we see other Beacon keepers, we get the idea that Beacon keepers are meant to be solitary humans and not have relationships with others, yet in one of the stories two keepers break that cardinal rule. There are various factional beefs that aren't explained, and just a whole bunch of threads felt dangling. The stories themselves seems disjointed and a bit whackadoo (IMO).  I wonder if this will get a third season, or if MGM is done with it.
