The other day I happened to see a notice on Twitter that EdModo was shutting down in about a month's time. I don't often post about EdTech on this blog, but I don't want to document my technology adieus on the other blog.  The timeline for the closure seems rather abrupt to me.  I am wondering if they were expecting another round of funding, or if they sold the company, or what.  A month is certainly not enough time to go into your courses and download all the materials and make backups of all of your courses.  The site, after all, had been around since 2011.  From what I've seen on twitter, they also didn't provide any means of exporting materials 🤷‍♂️

I must have been one of the first people to use EdModo, and probably the first on my campus to be using it because EdModo made me an admin for the entire campus!  Now, this wasn't a problem in 2011, when I was working for the Instructional Design team, but when I moved to Applied Linguistics I checked the site less and less frequently, so I didn't keep up with admitting new faculty into the platform.  Oh Well...
