We recently finished the relaunch(?) of the series Dexter, titled New Blood (works on a variety of levels, I guess). When the original series ended, Dexter was last seen logging in Alaska. That ending wasn't really all that satisfactory. Not that I wanted to see Dexter dead, but it didn't really fit the character.  Now, years later, we see Dexter in upstate New York (without much explanation of how he got there), living a relatively quiet, unassuming, life. Heck, he even has a romantic relationship, and his dark passenger is at bay. After all, nothing really happens in a small rural town.  Or does it?

Well, I guess that's a rhetorical question because the town has a serial killer, and because Dexter stirs things around a bit. Throughout the series, Dex reconnects with Harrison (his son, who is now older), and  has discussions with the ghosts of his dead sister (I actually enjoyed those back and forths in Dexter's head). The way the series ends feels like a more satisfying epilogue for this character than the original ending which seemed rather rushed. If there are no further seasons, that would be fine by me.  We can imagine Harrison rebuilding his life, without a dark passenger, and making the best of it.
