Zombi | Done!

The most recent game I finished (right before I headed off to the annual MTA conference the past two days) was Zombi on the XBOX One. This was originally a WiiU game (a horror game on the Nintendo???) but it made its way to the xbox a few years later. It's an ubisoft production and it's something I got for "free" by subscribing to Gold (since my membership is expiring soon I thought I
May the Swartz be with you!
I guess this is for all the Star Wars fans ;-) I think I discovered this on Reddit somewhere.
Sev TNG: Riker the cardshark
Interesting strip. I don't think we see a ton of poker playing on TNG, but it's something memorable. I do wonder why chess and poker. Why not go to the arcade or something (yes, I know, these two things are cheap to produce...). An alternate proposed punchline that I also liked was "I think one thing, say another and do a third."(original archive here)
Vemon is coming!
I'm not really caught up with all my superhero movies (but I am more 'caught up' with Marvel than DC, so that's something). There is a new trailer out for Venom which looks pretty awesome. The only thing I know about this character is really what I learned by playing Maximum Carnage on the Sega Genesis about 20 years ago...so that's really a long way of saying "I don't know much".
Review: Collaborative Learning: Higher Education, Interdependence, and the Authority of Knowledge
Collaborative Learning: Higher Education, Interdependence, and the Authority of Knowledge by Kenneth A. BruffeeMy rating: 4 of 5 stars Interesting read. The first part of the book discusses collaboration as a means of nonfoundational knowledge teaching. I felt that a large part of the book (part II) dealt with the philosophy of nonfoundational knowledge instruction (much more so than collaboration).
Where's camptain pike?
Seems like old school fan films (pre CBS guidelines) are pretty quiet. Axanar seems to be 'working' on it, and Pacific 201 sends some periodic updates. Captain Pike on the other hand seems MIA. I think this might be one of those casualties (or maybe a study case for kickstarter risks). Too bad that it looks like this won't come out (especially considering that Pike will be
Sev TNG: I am sensing the obvious
This is an obvious dig at the poor writing that they had for Troy in the first few seasons on TNG (basically until Jelico came and asked why she wasn't in uniform). Troy is such a great character, just needed better writing. I do like one of the alternate taglines a little better "Don't say it, just do it." - it calls back a little to the other "star" franchise ;-)(original archive here)
Love notes to Newton
Now I wish I had known about this crowdfunding campaign a while back (I don't often visit indiegogo, but I do keep an eye out on kickstarter from time to time). This is a documentary, that luckily was partially funded about one of the most awesome mobile platforms in computing history: the Apple Newton. I can't wait for this to come out :-) Love Notes to Newton (Preview) from
