Well, I've had a whole weekend to go through Motorola CLIQ related blogs and see what I (really) think about it.

When I first saw coverage of the device (was it through Engadget? I don't remember), I was really excited, and much to my surpise I still am! I was never a big fan of motorola phones. I never like their iDEN (Nextel) stuff, their startacks and passport phones were aesthetically displeasing, and I never really got why the original RAZR became such a hit ($500 for a feature phone, on contract, seemed a little much, comparatively I got my HTC blue angel for that much on contract). The only phone that I sort of liked was the Sidekick Slide.

In any case, the CLIQ seems like a nice piece of kit. The MOTO Blur UI seems great, and the integration of social networking features as part of the contact management/messaging system seems pretty great! It's nice not to have to log into a specific application in order to see messages that were sent to the service. Android seems to be getting traction and I am excited to see what other companies will do with it. I am also excited to to see what the competition (Nokia Maemo, Nokia S60, Windows Mobile, Palm WebOS, Apple, and the rest) will do to their operating systems to compete.

The one thing that I don't like about the click is the radios. According to the specs, the 3G on it is 900/1700/2100 which means that it will only work on T-Mobile. I think we are far enough now in 3G evolution to have chips that can do all 3G bands so that we could take this phone and run it on AT&T is we wanted to.

That being said, I still think that the CLIQ is a pretty nice phone and I actually would not mind switching to T-Mobile to get it (or something like it when I am out of contract)
