The SonyEricsson Experia X2 was announced this week. I've always liked SE phones (even when they really stagnated and killed off the UIQ - but I digress) and it's nice to see them innovating again with other operating systems.

The X2 seems like a nice device, but I would never buy it because it comes preloaded with windows mobile and panels, the new SE interface that they debuted with the X1, does not save it. If it were an android or a symbian handset I would consider it.

The X2 will ship with WinMo 6.5. "6.5?!" you may say...and to that I would reply - yes, 6.5! WinMo has really fallen behind the innovation curve and 6.5 seems as much of a dinosaur these days as EPOC (the underpinning OS for symbian). I would love to try the X2 out, however unless WinMo gets a hefty upgrade - I don't see myself going back to a WinMo device ;-)

I wonder what SE could do with a Maemo device....
