[SPOILERS - if you have not see it yet, go see it] A couple of summers ago, while driving around in Greece, I was listening to Trek.fm (best time to try new podcasts is when you are driving a lot!) In one of their shows (the continuing mission) they explore fan made productions that continue the stories set in the Trek universe - and Star Trek Horizon was one of these productions.

After a long time the film is finally out (and I for one am hoping for a sequel!).  The story takes place during the Star Trek: Enterprise time frame, on the ship NX-04 (discovery).  On screen we see iconians, the last of their kind I presume. These iconians look humanoid (unlike the Star Trek Online iconians who look a little like Taelons to me).  The iconians have left behind some sort of technology which future Romulans - Romulans who survived the catastrophe that we saw at the beginning of the 2009 Star Trek film, are out to get the federation before it has an opportunity to establish itself. 

This movie ties in events of Star Trek 2009, Star Trek Enterprise (the temporal cold war), and the original series with the iconians.  I don't know how I feel about humanoid iconians.  I sort of gotten used to the Star Trek Online iconians, but I'm willing to roll with it. This reminds me a little bit of the whole humans on earth now and the alterans (aka "the ancients") who were also humans. It also reminds me a little of Battlestar Galactica.

I think that this film was particularly well made - kudos to the fans that put it together!  So - the big questions are: (1) where can I get one of the NX-04 patches? and (2) is there a sequel?
