Pacific 201 - Part II

Here's Part II of Pacific 201.  I can't wait to see the tech manual that was developed for this fan film :-)

Assassin's creed Odyssey trailer

Just by luck yesterday YouTube suggested the Ubisoft livestream from E3 (oh internet overlords, you know me so well!), and I tuned in just as the trailer for Assassin's Creed Odyssey came on screen.  I love the trailer, I love that I am able to pick a character, I love that it's going to be set in Greece during the  peloponnesian war, I think I like the Bioware RPGness of the game. There are two confusing things:  If Assassin's Creed Origins is the Origin of the brotherhood, then why are we going back 400 years before that? Also, why the heck is Assassin's Emblem (and hence the emblem of the game) a Greek Lambda (Λ)? The emblem is essentially a protractor, but by getting rid of of the bottom parts of the logo you've made it into a Greek letter, which stylistically might look fine to a western eye, but to a Greek it's like an assassin's blade through the heart.

Cyberpunk 2077 trailer

Seems like some big announcements were made today and yesterday at this year's E3.  I hadn't even seen anything regarding this game in the game press (not that I was paying particular attention) but this game looks likeit could be a lot of fun, wrapped up in an interesting story.

Cobra Kai Returns - wait...what?

Now THIS is interesting. It's both and underdog story, and a redemption story, and potentially a role reversal story, all steeped in heavy vats of nostalgia. When the "youtube red original" logo came on screen I immediately wrote this off, BUT I was hooked and needed to see the rest of the trailer (you know, the car accident rule, you know it's gruesome, but you can't look away).  I am glad I didn't because this series (or movie?) looks really great!

Vintage Tech - Tapwave Zodiac

Back in 2003 the Tapwave Zodiac, a PalmOS based (entertainment?) device hit the shelves!  My younger self really wanted one of these, since I didn't have (nor did I want to have, at the time) a Gameboy Advance. I was going to write something more extensive about it, but I found an LGR review the other day that gives a rundown of the device.  All things considered it seems like an interesting device that was poorly implemented, and it failed to prognosticate certain things (like the need for wifi!)

Star Wars intergalactic language - where's the school???

A little bit of humor from the feeds today.  This was a Saturday Night Live skit that was cut for time, but it's so awesome.  How do those people far far away understand the bleeps, blops, and ooouuuuuuuaaaaa (my best text impression of Chewbacca)?

Stargate Origins trailer

It seems that prequels are the new rage when it comes to sci-fi on TV.  Here is the most recent trailer for Stargate: Origins (no...nothing to do with the Book of Origin and the Ori). It seems interesting, and hopefully it goes beyond to 10-12 mini episodes (10 minutes each) that it is originally planned to run.  I still want them to do a post Universe show (maybe even go back to the Destiny!)

Splinter Cell: Part II

Part II of the Splinter Cell fan film was released this past week with 20 minutes more of the prequel story. It was an interesting video to watch (and now I'm waiting for Part III which I assume wraps up the story), but some of the dialogue seemed to be a little odd for the character of Sam Fisher and it sounded a little more like a generic action hero. Perhaps we can write it off as this being a younger, less experienced (more volatile?) Sam Fisher?  Looking forward to part III
