Pacific 201 - Part I
Wednesday, Feb 3 2021, 05:30 Entertainment, FanFilm, kickstarter, Star Trek, Video PermalinkAnother fan film is out! (crowdfunded less than Axanar, crowdfunded after Axanar, and is out before Axanar. Go figure ;-)

The Romulan War - A star trek fan film
Tuesday, Feb 2 2021, 07:47 FanFilm, kickstarter, Star Trek PermalinkThis Star Trek fan film came out better than I expected last December. Some good fan films are coming out again despite Axanar ruining it for everyone.
If you listen closely, I contributed to some of the additional voices :-)

Review: Airship Enterprise: The Infernal Machine

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This was something that had come across kickstarter a while back (before I really looked at kickstarter). It is an interesting take on Star Trek through a steampunk lens. I am not all that interested in steampunk as a genre but this wasn't a bad story. I think for Trek fans you'll find enough to keep you going, and see enough parallels to Trek, that will make the story compelling.

Where's camptain pike?
Sunday, Apr 29 2018, 10:44 adieu, FanFilm, kickstarter, StarTrek, trailer PermalinkSeems like old school fan films (pre CBS guidelines) are pretty quiet. Axanar seems to be 'working' on it, and Pacific 201 sends some periodic updates. Captain Pike on the other hand seems MIA. I think this might be one of those casualties (or maybe a study case for kickstarter risks). Too bad that it looks like this won't come out (especially considering that Pike will be - at least peripherally - in Star Trek Discovery), looked interesting.

Fan Film down!
Saturday, Apr 7 2018, 13:30 FanFilm, kickstarter, Sci-Fi, StarTrek, Video PermalinkSeems like another (star trek) fan-film is down...or at least temporarily halted. The Star Trek: Temporal Anomaly fan film seems to be in talks with CBS. Since they started their work before all the "guidelines" came about (mostly because of Axanar, it seems), they were under the impression that they were grandfathered into the non-guideline era. This is the third fan film (after axanar, and Star Trek: Ride of the Federation) that gets this treatment. Oh well... hopefully the full intended film can be "released" in some fashion 😏

The trailer:
The synopsis:
Star Trek: Temporal Anomaly is the story of an average day aboard the Enterprise 1701-E which takes place just after the incident with the Ba’ku featured in Star Trek: Insurrection. An anomaly suddenly forms and within the blink of an eye somehow leaves only 1 Ensign aboard the Federation flagship. He soon discovers other ships from other times have also been brought to that region of space and each with only 1 crew member left aboard. With each ship badly damaged the remaining cross-era crew must join forces against an unlikely foe as the fate of their ships, their lost crews and over 200 years of history is threatened.

Axanar interview
Monday, Oct 2 2017, 00:30 controversy, crowdfunding, FanFilm, kickstarter, Podcast, StarTrek, youtube PermalinkI came across this Trekzone Axanar interview. This is part II, the Alec Peters part, Part I was a bit of a train-wreck. You do get some clips from part I with Alec, but it's clear that Alec shouldn't be doing interviews (or be online really) - the focus should be on finishing these two mini Axanar parts now that the big movie can't be done. By the way, where are the perks? Some perks should be getting shipped (like patches for example).

Here is a clip of some promo/side material to promote Blade of Honor with Battlestar's original Apollo who passed away recently
