This one was another interesting April Fool's that has caught my attention.  I think what got me was the pet-appeal of the fake ad.  Next year they should do something with cats ;-)

Another of my favorite April Fool's fake announcements from this year's crop of April Fool's Jokes, the persistent, real life, owl notification that keeps pestering you to practice your language skills on Duolingo ;-)

Continuing on with the April Fool's theme for this week, here is another one:  An ad for the Honda "Pastport" (pun on their passport line of SUVs...) that rolls back the ameneties of the car to what existed in the 90s ;-)

Along with the "artisanal" soundtrack for the game this year (something that seems to have become an annual tradition in STO), there was an announcement for a new (April Fool's) expansion of the game titled "The Gorn Discovery" There are a lot of humorous puns here (see announcement below) , but in all seriousness this would have been an interesting expansion.  At the very least it's another

This year's Google April Fool's joke...or at least one of them, is Google Tulip: using AI to translate plant communication to allow for human-plant communication.  It was pretty funny ;-).  While watching this yesterday, I also came across Google Wind from a couple of years ago, also from the same Google Netherlands team.  The Netherlands team seems to have quite a lot of fun

Star Trek: Discovery: The Light of Kahless by Kirsten Beyer My rating: 5 of 5 stars Not a bad comic, and one that brings forth a bit of prequel mythos into Star Trek Discovery. In this one we see the origins of the Sacrophagus ship, and T'Kuvma and Voq themselves, and other Klingons who are acting...dishonorably...to say the least. I am wondering if there will be any references

Narrative Inquiry: A Dynamic Approach by Colette Daiute My rating: 3 of 5 stars 3.5 stars. Not a bad book, and not bad in structuring a methodology for researching a narrative inquiry. The approach given, however, makes me a little perplexed as to what separates this type of narrative inquiry from something like Discourse Analysis. View all my reviews

Artemis by Andy Weir My rating: 5 of 5 stars Since I liked the Martian, I decided to follow it up with Artemis.  I wasn't sure if this was going to be a sequel, or something totally different.  Basically: Moon smuggler, on a moon base, fitting the "young professional" category of employee tries something new. Royally messes up but survives. Walks away an entrepreneur. Fun

The Martian by Andy Weir My rating: 5 of 5 stars After a lot of hype I decided to read this book. It was quite a fun book to read. MacGyver, on Mars, becomes a potato farmer to survive until he can get rescued. Snarky MacGyver on Mars - which makes it more fun.
