Review: Assassin's Creed: Brahman

Assassin's Creed: Brahman by Brenden Fletcher My rating: 5 of 5 stars I think this is my favorite comic story to date. While you do have the who assassin/templar thing going on, the protagonist is just a regular Joe Schmoe working for Abstergo.  His significant other is of an Assassin heritage (something she doesn't know) and ultimately becomes a victim of a

Review: Assassin's Creed: Volume 3 Homecoming

Assassin's Creed: Volume 3 Homecoming by Anthony Del Col My rating: 3 of 5 stars This was an OK story. Reading it made me wonder if they had more in mind as a continuation to this, or if it just fizzled.  It wasn't bad, but it was also not super exciting. Publisher's summary:The Brotherhood of the Assassins is in trouble. Resources depleted by their long

Review: Assassin's Creed: Assassins Vol.2: Setting Sun

Assassin's Creed: Assassins Vol.2: Setting Sun by Anthony Del Col My rating: 5 of 5 stars Fun continuation to the first volume.  The animus components of the story take place in the Incan Empire during the Spanish invasion. This is not addressed in the comic book or the lore, but I'd love to get more background as to how the Assassin Order's numbers dwindled

Review: Kingdom Of The Damned

Kingdom Of The Damned by Michael Jan Friedman My rating: 3 of 5 stars A collection of stories where Q is being Q and turns the entire crew (except for Data) into Klingons just to mess with them.  Of course, the Enterprise is playing taxi service to a bunch of aliens that don't like Klingons, so Q is getting his laughs in.  Not bad, overall.  I think

TV - Titans (Season 3)

This season sees the team go to Gotham! We get to see old favorites, like Barbara Gordon (now police commissioner) and Old Man Wayne, who is still haunted by his past. Interestingly enough the joker is still around! I would have expected people who are dumped in a vat of chemicals to not get that old, but whatever.  The Joker lures Jason (the new Robin) into a trap and kills him (oh yeah,

Year-in-Review: Goodreads

Well, I far exceeded my anticipated books to-read in 2021, but many of them were comic books :-) I did read a few things for class, and a few other fiction and non-fiction alike for pleasure, but many comics were read.  I had wanted to finish the relaunch Star Trek Voyager series but that didn't happen.  Definitely in 2022!

Review: Star Trek Archives: Best of the Borg

Star Trek Archives: Best of the Borg by Michael Jan Friedman My rating: 3 of 5 stars Not a bad collection of stories. I particularly liked the final story of the Romulans encountering the Borg for the first time. The main story (TNG parallel universe) was interesting, but I wasn't as taken by the art style. The parallel universe was visually distracting in that the

Review: Star Trek Archives: Best of Peter David

Star Trek Archives: Best of Peter David by Peter David My rating: 3 of 5 stars The stories were good.  The art style doesn't particularly appeal to me, but it didn't really get in the way of enjoying the stories.  The "worthy" storyline felt like "the crew of the enterprise meets superheroes". Review: Star Trek: Gold Key Archives Volume 3

Star Trek: Gold Key Archives Volume 3 by Len WeinMy rating: 2 of 5 stars Definitely another product of its time. I did enjoy the camp-factor a bit, but it was definitely a skim-read to get a sense of the story instead of a deeper read, taking in more details like the drawings and inking. There is something interesting in reading this now, as a retro-futurist type of comic. Kirk gets cloned
