Catching up on my quick thoughts on games that I played a long time ago (or so it seems!).  This one was completed on 5/31/2020 and it was a game that I had access to on Gamepass The game is a classic side-scrolling beat-em-up, similar to other titles like Double Dragon, Final Fight, and of course, the classic Streets of Rage.  Having played this game, I think I like Streets of Rage better

Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo, and the Battle that Defined a Generation by Blake J. Harris My rating: 5 of 5 stars Quite an interesting story. It picks up right after the Master System and ends with the Sega Saturn.  I would have liked to have known a bit more (Dreamcast era, and Sega getting out of the console business), but maybe that's for another book

Well... I guess I'm done with it not in the "I've completed the game" aspect but rather, "I got to a point and got tired of it" :p .  A month or so ago I thought I'd start Bayonetta on the xbox.  Not that I have a ton of time on my hands with the dissertation proposal going on, but hey, it should have been a fun diversion.  In the game you play as...you guess it...Bayonetta. 

It is a little odd, for me, to be seeing a sonic game on a nintendo platform - but times have changed :) I am looking forward to this!

What a difference 20 years make :-) When I was in high school this would have seemed so awesome. Well, it still does, but the super nintendo and the genesis were the thing back then, and shoving it all into a gameboy form factor would have blown my mind!

With yet another driving scene in Alone in the Dark, I decided to put this game aside and try my hand at Alpha Protocol, another game that I got in the used bin for less than $15 this past summer.  While Alone in the Dark does allow me to skip that driving scene and go to the next part of the game (perhaps this being a silent acknowledgement that some of the game mechanics don't work
